Firefighter Core Purpose of the Role: As an Airport Firefighter, you will be responsible for conducting firefighting and rescue operations, ensuring the safe operation of aircraft, and responding to domestic and special service incidents. Duties and Responsibilities: Upon successful completion of training, fire service personnel are expected to possess a thorough working knowledge of all fire service procedures and practices and perform the operational role of an Airport Firefighter, including: Undertaking training and qualifying as a Firefighter at an Approved Training Provider (ATP), including certification as a breathing apparatus wearer, first aid responder, and LGV driver. Responding immediately and safely to all emergency calls and requests for assistance. Managing emergency situations effectively and working as part of a disciplined team. Attending and assisting with medical calls, fire alarm testing, and other special service duties. Maintaining a high level of competence in fire service equipment, procedures, and practices through regular training. Ensuring physical fitness meets the standards outlined in BHX Fire & Rescue Medical Standards. Maintaining personal appearance, hygiene, and uniform cleanliness in accordance with disciplined service standards. Operating all fire appliances and emergency vehicles competently. Understanding and adhering to emergency procedures relevant to the Airport Fire Service. Participating in a maintenance and assessment programme in line with CAP 699 (The Standards for the Competence of RFFS Personnel). Assisting with snow clearance as required. Completing routine administrative tasks, including report writing. Acting as the Crew Manager in the absence of the duty shift Crew Manager, subject to business requirements and the relevant Incident Command Qualification. Eyesight meeting LGV (Group 2) driver requirements and National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) standards, with normal color perception. Good general education, including proficiency in Mathematics, English Language, and Science. Desirable: British Safety Council Level 2 qualification. Level 3 Teaching Qualification.
