Airfield Safety Coordinator

Summary of the role
The Safety Coordinator shall demonstrate a level of practical operational knowledge and experience inairfield operations. Working closely with the Airfield Safety & Standards Manager, the ASC will help in the administration of the Aerodrome Safety Management System (SMS) focused on overseeing safety investigations ensuring learnings are taken and deadlines are met and also leading safety campaigns with airside stakeholders on the airfield.Duties and Responsibilities• Ensure that safety occurrences on the Airfield are investigated, followed up, corrective actions identified and closed out within Centrik • Participate in Change Management risk assessments (HARPs) as required and support in the delivery of training for the Airfield Operations teams (AF Ops, AI & RFFS).• Lead and supports with airside driving enforcement, maintaining a record of driving violations and liaising with airside stakeholders to action in accordance with the BAL (Birmingham Airport Limited) AOIs (Aerodrome Operating Instructions). • Act as one of the Centrik champions within Airfield Operations teams (AF Ops, AI & RFFS) providing training to staff members as required.• Lead Airfield safety campaigns to promote safe working practices, this will be dictated by the annual Aerodrome Safety Plan and response to trends observed on the airfield.• Undertake safety oversight on the apron, including driving safety, vehicles and GSE (Ground Service Equipment) safety, ground handler oversight and safety inspections.• Contribute to the updating and review of relevant documents within the Aerodrome SMS (Safety Management System). • Safety Promotion through various methods to airside stakeholders of lessons learnt from local safety occurrences or occurrences at other airports where they are relevant.• Lead and administer actions within the Centrik system for safety occurrences, risk assessments, HARPs and read and signs.• Preparation of regulatory submissions to the Civil Aviation Authority, including but not limited to CAP791 requests and Mandatory Occurrence Reports (MORs).• Preparation and participation for aerodrome safety meetings.• And other duties as directed.Candidate requirements• Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.• Analytical and data analysis skills with attention to detail.• Proficiency in IT skills related to system administration, such as configuring, maintaining, and updating software systems.The Airport Company reserves the right to vary the duties and responsibilities of staff unde

Under the overall direction of the Engineering Manager Electrical, to participate in the provision of a safe and efficient operation of the airfield and estates engineering services. This role reports directly to the Power Engineering Manager. There is a requirement to interface with a number of stakeholders and partners in airside and landside locations supporting the wider business needs. This role will work closely with Airfield Technicians and Airfield Infrastructure section.
Main Duties
Managing the Facility
Maximising the use of existing facilities whilst not compromising customer service
To carry out maintenance repairs, alteration and adaptation work to the high and low voltage electrical systems and associated equipment for the airfield and estates areas.
To maintain operational equipment for the manoeuvring areas Runways & Taxiways for the safe operation of aircraft.
To use Engineering Drawings and Documents in Maintenance Activities.
To carry out conditional monitoring on mechanical plant and electronic/ electrical equipment.
To carry out planned maintenance, inspections, testing and repairs on electrical equipment and mechanical plant on the Airport site.
To participate with internal communications systems and to use new technology and systems as appropriate.
To complete appropriate documentation as required, i.e. inspection reports / log books, stores requisitions, cost coding, vehicle daily inspection reports, job reports.
To collect materials from stores / suppliers / assist with site deliveries and ensure running stocks of materials are maintained and available.
To provide escort and or RT cover for contractors working airside site locations where required.
To work efficiently and effectively, and identify improvement opportunities.
Working as part of an established team, contributing to deliver best working practices and service to our customer base at Birmingham Airport.
Responsible for the safe operation of activities carried out by Birmingham Airport and non Birmingham Airport teams resulting from maintenance activities

Life Safety Systems Manager
Working in conjunction with the Engineering Manager – Infrastructure, Terminal Electrical Infrastructure Manager, Fire Safety Manager, Asset Performance Manager and Statutory and Compliance Manager, to support the provision of safe, cost effective, compliant, and efficient Life Safety Systems.
The role will also support the management, preventative maintenance, and inspections of all Life Safety Systems across the Birmingham Airport Estate.

Knowledge & experience of complying with relevant standards & regulations e.g., Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, Electricity at Work Regulations, IET Regulations.
Airfield Technician
Reporting to the Airfield Engineering Supervisor the role requires communication with all the stakeholders operating at the airfield both landside and airside in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner to maintain airfield operations and therefore promote positive customer experiences of using the airport.
The main function of the Airfield technician is to maintain the Aeronautical Lighting Systems, communication systems and operating areas of the aircraft (runway and taxiways), as well as be able to interpret engineering drawings and documents and their intent. The Airfield Technician is also required to carry out planned maintenance inspections, routine replacement of parts and system/component tests. Completion of logs, reports and requisitions is also a required role of the Airfield Technician to maintain the traceability of work completed and ensure smooth operation of the engineering department. All work is to be carried out in accordance with safety guidelines provided by the airport and the CAA.
The Airfield Technician role also requires supporting, escorting and safety supervision as required for external contractors working on the airfield, support and maintain systems used for material resource delivery, storage and stock use. While the role is predominately an electrical engineering role, there is a requirement to work on mechanical systems and to maintain paved areas of the airfield.
The Airfield Technician is required to work shifts over an 8 week shift pattern to provide full support to the airfield, and the annual work hour requirement is 2033hrs. However relevant training relating to airfield maintenance and operations is given with a strong supportive approach to training and development as part of the culture for continued personal development.
Candidate Suitability
The Airfield Technician will have Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation and also have 18th Edition Wiring Regulation Qualifications. The Airfield Technician will ideally possess a level of experience working within a commercial electrical installation environment and have some experience of high voltage electrical systems and plant.
The Airfield Technician will have a strong eye for detail, be precise and accurate and will be an excellent communicator with a flexible, approachable attitude and resilience from experience in working in a challenging environment.
Under the overall direction of the Head of Airfield Infrastructure to participate in the provision of a safe, cost effective and efficient Airfield Engineering service. This role reports directly to the Airfield Engineering Supervisor. There is a requirement to interface with Air Traffic Control, Airlines, Handling Agents, Security, Tenants and concessionaires operating in airside and landside external locations and the Airport’s Contract organisations.
